Savoury Cheese, Bacon and Chive Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 10 slices F. Ménard bacon, cubed
  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp. minced fresh chives
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large pot over moderate heat, cook bacon pieces until crisp, about 8 minutes. Set aside.  
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder and salt.
  5. To the mixture add the melted butter, chives and milk. Stir until evenly blended.
  6. Next add the grated cheese and the bacon pieces. Mix well.
  7. Using a soup spoon, make 12 dough balls of about ¼ cup each.
  8. Place dough balls on the parchment paper and bake 15 to 17 minutes or until biscuits are lightly browned.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool a few minutes before serving.
  10. We suggest serving them warm with butter.
