Ingredients

  • 4 slices of F. Ménard bacon steak
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 5 tbs. butter
  • 1 tbs. vegetable oil
  • 1 tps. 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 package (454g) dough for imperial rolls, thawed
  • 1 cup grated cheddar
  • 6 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (Greek or other)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder and / or your favorite seasoning

Preparation

  • Place the diced potatoes in a saucepan. Fill the pan with cold water, just enough to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are quite tender.
  • Meanwhile, cook the bacon slices in a pan (ideal cooking time is 20 minutes). Leave to cool, then cut into small pieces. Keep about 1/4 cup of bacon steak pieces aside.
  • Once the potatoes are cooked, drain and transfer to a large bowl. Add the butter, half the cheese, the seasonings of your choice, the majority of the bacon steak and 4 sliced green onions. Crush until smooth and lump-free. Set aside and let cool completely.
  • Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, yogurt, green onion and garlic well. Season with salt and pepper then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • In a small pot, combine the vegetable oil and sesame oil. Reserve.
  • Assemble the imperial rollers. Place about a tablespoon of the potato mixture in the center of each square of dough. Close the rollers by bringing two corners in the center, and roll to form a cylinder, making sure that everything is tight. Repeat until there is no more mixture. Otherwise, close the 4 corners towards the center, to make a backpack. Repeat until there is no more mixture.
  • Brush the mixture of oils on each imperial roller. Then place them on a baking sheet.
  • In an oven preheated to 425 ° F (220 ° C), bake the rolls for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Turn the rollers and continue cooking for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and garnish with remaining cheese and bacon steak crumbs. Bake in the broiler oven until the cheese is golden.
Serve the warm rolls with the dip.
